ABOUT DR. VASAVADA

Dr. Tarak Vasavada

Tarak Vasavada, MD is a Medical Director of Huntsville Hospital Behavior Health Services. He is a clinical professor of psychiatry at UAB School of Medicine. After obtaining MBBS and MD in Psychiatry from Baroda Medical College, India, Dr. Vasavada did his psychiatry residency from SUNY Upstate Medical College Syracuse. He has won numerous teaching awards and is also a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He was the president of the Alabama Association of Indian Physicians in 2009-10. He served as president of Alabama Psychiatrist Physician’s Association from 2016-18. He is currently president elect for the Indo American Psychiatric Association (IAPA) and board member of Madison County Medical Society for the last 15 years. He is also a board member for national association of 15,000 physicians from India called Association of Physicians of Indian origin (AAPI). His areas of interest include medical teaching, psychopharmacology, Physician’s wellness, and Positive Psychiatry. He is the medical director of the Madison County Medical Society’s innovative program called “Live well Foundation” that provides free confidential counseling services and supports physician well-being, resilience, and growth. He enjoys giving presentations on various topics that make us think.
